How to create a flower garden?

Features of creating a "mixed" flower garden.

The perennial mixborder is decorative at any time of the year. Therefore, such a flower garden is very popular in landscape design. It is a whole art to create a flower bed from many different and, it would seem, completely incompatible species and varieties of ornamental plants.
A variety of mixborders is not a chaotic planting of a large number of plants of different species. Here, their size is very important.

Due to the decorative leaves, some plants remain attractive even after flowering. The remaining leaves may not even serve as a special decoration for the flower garden, but they remain neat and do not spoil the overall look.

The optimal conditions for a perennial mixborder will be open areas with dim lighting.

For example: ⠀
- Along the house  facade;
- On a small rise;
- On the edge of the terrace;
- As a living fence;
- In the background of a lawn;
- Along garden paths.

The flower bed of perennials can be of any shape: elongated, round, rectangular and even in the shape of a triangle.

Each plant in the flower bed has its own place. First of all, the "skeleton" of the flower garden is created. The so-called "skeletal" plants form the basis of any mixborder. They set the height of the flower garden.

The central part of the mixborder:
- Willow;
- Viburnum;
- Elderberry;
- Magnolia;
- Dwarf cedars, fir and thuja;
- Jasmine;
- Hibiscus;
- Weeping larch.

They are planted at a certain distance from each other, because they tend to grow.

Middle tier mixborder:
- Phlox;
- Roses;
- Delphiniums;
- Asters and many other bright perennials.
- Junipers;
- And other plants with decorative foliage.

Mixborder foreground:
- Violet horned;
- Bell;
- Asters;
- Hybrid cloves;
- Irises;
Spring primroses should smoothly pass the baton to plants that actively bloom in the summer. And those will give way to autumn-flowering species of perennials.
